Marc Chagall's Colorful Ceiling, Paris
The Opera Garnier building is huge, the intricate and opulent auditorium decor is richly covered in red velvet and it seats only 2000 people. The auditorium is topped by Marc Chagall's ceiling illuminated by a 7-ton bronze and crystal chandelier designed by Charles Garnier. This Opera house was used as the setting for Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel, “The Phantom of the Opera”, and the novel's subsequent adaptations in films.
